New Certified Strategy Guide Designation- Beginning May 2025


Replacing the " Strategy Trainer" or "Master Trainer" designation (2007-2014), the Certified Strategy Guide(tm) or (CSG) is be the highest professional designation and the minimum requirement for teaching at the Science of Strategy Institute.  


Professional Education: Certified Strategy Guide Program:

Flexible tracks: 1-2 years, depending on full-time or part time enrollment. 

Designed for adult learners (18+), with an emphasis on working professionals. 


Objective: Develop advanced strategic skills for career enhancement, leadership roles, or entrepreneurial ventures. 


Admission Requirements:

  • Minimum age: 18.
  • Professional Experience: 2+ years preferred (waived for exceptional candidates with Strategic Foundations Diploma or equivalent).
  • Application: resume, statement, and interview.


What: A flexible, intensive program for working professionals, culminating in certification as a "Certified Strategy Guide" (CSG) designation.


Curriculum Outline


Core Strategic Foundations (3 months)

Format: Online or hybrid (evening/ weekend classes)

Subjects:

  • Mintzberg's 5 P's of Strategy
  • Sun Tzu's Positional Strategy and SOSI Star for Analyzing Strategic Positions
  • S.O.S.I. progress cycle
  • Strategility for Servant Leaders (P.R.I.M.E.D. to W.I.N. and Frost's Funnel) 
  • Advanced Game Theory
  • Ethics and Decision Making (Just War Theory)

Skills: 

  • Strategic Modeling
  • Risk/ Reward Analysis
  • Project: Analyze a current workplace challenge and propose a strategy.



Specialization Tracks (choose one):

Business Strategy: competitive analysis, growth planning, leadership.

Public Sector Strategy: Political campaigns, policy design, lobbying, stakeholder negotiation.

Innovation Strategy: Disruption, product strategy, tech integration.

Personal Leadership Strategy: Career planning, influence, resilience.


Format: Hybrid with intensive workshops


Practical Immersion (3-6 months)

Components: 

Capstone Project: Solve a complex, real-world problem (e.g. company turnaround, community initiative, school launch)

Mentorship: Paired with a practicing strategist

Simulations: Crisis management, negotiation exercises. 

Format: Blend of remote work and in-person initiatives.

Outcome: Capstone presentation to certification panel


Delivery Options:

Full time: 12 months (intensive for career switchers or sabbatical takers).

Part time: 24 months (flexible, for working professionals).

Modular; Complete individual modules for micro-credentials, with the option to pursue full certification later
